Job Description The Bootsman is the senior sailor on board and holds a valid Bootsman qualification. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the daily deck operations, ensuring high-quality execution of all tasks performed by the sailor team. The Bootsman actively participates in all nautical maintenance and operational duties, provides on-the-job training to sailors, and ensures that all safety, operational, and inventory standards are adhered to. Any irregularities, damages, or safety concerns must be reported immediately to the Captain. Requirements
Professional experience as a sailor
Valid and stamped River service record book with Bootsman qualification
Ability to communicate in English/German for navigation/mooring purposes
Ability to communicate in English with guests and company personnel
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Dependable personality with a high sense of responsibility
Ability to train and mentor junior sailors
First aid and breathing apparatus training is desirable but not a requirement

Oversee the nautical inventory; report shortages, damages, or irregularities to the Captain
Side Tasks
Assist the Captain with preparations and execution of winter repairs
Assist with luggage service, loading operations, and garbage off-loading
Participate in all safety drills
Report any accidents or incidents to the Captain
Identify and report “near miss” situations accordingly
Participate in scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings
