Requirements
Valid and stamped EU River Service Record Book with Sailor/Deck qualification
Qualification as ship mechanical engineer for river-going ships or any technical schooling
Ability to communicate in English with guests and company personnel
Good social skills and ability to interact with guests
Team player
Organized and dependable personality with a strong sense of responsibility
Role and Responsibilities
Represent the company values and visions
Ensure a professional and courteous service while managing the daily operations
Maintain company standards and operating procedures
Ensure the safety of the ship, the crew, and the passengers
Adhere and enforce the company Safety Management plan
Execute all nautical and safety maintenance
Interact with guests courteously
Assist with safety equipment checks and ship maintenance, following company protocols
Ensuring the safe and proper operation of all technical systems and engines on board during the Engineer’s rest periods or days off.
Carrying out maintenance and repair work under the supervision and direction of the Engineer.
Performing prompt repairs in guest cabins and public areas to ensure passenger comfort and satisfaction.
Complying, at all times, with safety regulations, accident-prevention measures, and fire-protection procedures during all technical activities on board.
Continuously updating and improving technical knowledge and skills related to the systems and engines under their responsibility.
Reporting regularly to the Engineer on identified technical issues, maintenance activities performed, and the results of operational tasks.
Informing the Captain on general technical conditions and operating parameters, based on the daily log, when the Engineer is off duty.
Performing any other technical or operational tasks on board that fall within the Engine Guard Sailor's qualifications and skills.
Side Tasks
Assist captain with preparations and execution of winter repairs
Report any accidents or incidents to the captain
Identify near miss situations accordingly and follow up with reports
Participate in scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings
