The Role: We seek a talented and experienced '1st Electrician'.
Description Brief:
As the 1st Electrician, you will serve as the senior member of the ship’s electrical department (after the Chief Electrician/Chief Engineer). You’ll be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all electrical systems and equipment on board the vessel. You ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power distribution, lighting, electrical services and compliance with maritime safety regulations. This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership, and a proactive approach to maintenance and emergency response, ensuring the comfort and safety of guests and crew alike.
Minimum Requirements:
- To apply for this role, you must hold an Electro-Technical Rating (ETR) License, or equivalent marine electrical certification (STCW compliant).
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience working as an electrician or electrical fitter — marine, cruise ship, or offshore experience preferred
- Valid STCW certificates, as required for the position.
- Strong knowledge of maritime electrical systems, marine generators, switchboards, lighting systems, safety and emergency power systems
- Experience supervising or leading a small electrical team or working as a senior electrician/fitter in a high-demand environment
- Excellent understanding of marine safety regulations, SOLAS, classification society standards, and shipboard electrical best practices
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; ability to respond under pressure and in emergencies
